Bremont and Bamford Bring Aurora Borealis Glow into the Limited-Edition Timepieces

Bremont and Bamford have worked together again on the Bremont Bamford Aurora Limited Edition, which is their second project together. The base of this LE watch is the well-known and famous Supermarine GMT. It has a "Trip-Tick" case that is 43mm across, 50.8mm from lug to lug, and 16.5mm thick. This Supermarine watch comes with a 500-meter water resistance rating.

The font used for the lower numerals is inspired by stencils, keeping the interior parts of the numbers securely in position. The index apertures reveal a vibrant green layer of Super-LumiNova underneath, which is highly legible and almost glowing in broad daylight. Bamford ensured that the lume on this watch was top-notch.

The new CEO David Cerrato says he has always been fascinated by the challenge of creating a timepiece that is as compelling in the dark as it is in the light. “Working with George [Bamford], I am thrilled that we have achieved a luminous show which mirrors the magic and spectacle of the aurora borealis,” he adds.

Fun fact: We are about to see the brightest Aurora in 2024 in over two decades.

The hands are treated in a way that matches the dial, featuring a combination of matte black and vibrant green luminous material, except the second hand. This hand is adorned with glossy green paint and black striping.

The Bremont Modified Calibre 11, a customized and enhanced version of the ETA 2893 automatic GMT, is housed under a solid caseback. The watch is certified as a chronometer, resistant to magnetic fields, and has a power reserve of 50 hours. The Bremont Bamford Aurora is equipped with a 22mm hybrid fabric and leather strap featuring matching stitching and a brushed black DLC pin buckle fastening. The strap is somewhat rigid yet effectively supports the weight of the 115g watch head.

This exclusive Bremont Bamford Aurora Limited Edition Watch is limited to 500 pieces and has a price tag of £4,900. This product is more expensive than the previous collaboration, but it comes with extra features. It is also around $500 more than the standard Supermarine GMT. However, the price seems justified due to the added finishing, techniques, and limited availability.
